How it works

The tuned adapter rides on Apple Foundation Models, trims filler, fixes punctuation and capitalization, and respects your custom vocabulary. All on-device, in tens of milliseconds.

  3. 03

Clean text lands at your cursor.

Slack, Mail, Cursor, Linear, Figma, Notion, your terminal. System-wide, no per-app setup, no extension to install.

Asked & answered

Questions, answered.

What does the ⌥ Space hotkey conflict with? +
On macOS Sequoia and earlier, Spotlight used ⌘ Space (no conflict). Some users remap Spotlight to ⌥ Space; if that's you, change Dollop's hotkey in Settings to ⌥⇧ Space or any combination you like. VS Code's "Trigger Suggest" can also be remapped to ⌥ Space; we recommend leaving it on the VS Code default and using Dollop's default.
Does it work in Cursor, VS Code, Xcode, and the terminal? +
Yes, system-wide. Dollop pastes clean text at your cursor in any app, including Cursor, VS Code, Zed, Xcode, JetBrains IDEs, Vim, Emacs, Terminal, iTerm2, and Warp. More for engineers.
How does per-app tone matching work? +
Dollop's adapter is fine-tuned to recognize the front app and adjust voice accordingly: terser in Linear, casual in Slack, formal in Mail, warm in Messages. You can override per-app in Settings if a default doesn't match your style.
Can I add custom vocabulary? +
Yes. The Custom Vocabulary panel lets you add product names, framework names, vendor names, and internal acronyms. Dollop's adapter learns them on top of Apple Foundation Models without retraining anything cloud-side.
How accurate is it for long sentences and uncommon names? +
Dollop AI is fine-tuned on long-form natural speech and recognizes a much wider vocabulary than Apple Dictation alone. For domain-specific or invented vocabulary (character names, place names, technical terms), the Custom Vocabulary panel adds verbatim recognition without retraining anything cloud-side.
Does it really use 0 GB of RAM? +
Yes, beyond the OS baseline. Apple Foundation Models lives in macOS, the OS keeps it warm independently of any app. Dollop contributes nothing on top during dictation. Local Whisper-based tools like Voibe, VoiceInk, and Superwhisper load 700 MB to 2 GB into your RAM by comparison.
What languages does it support? +
30+ languages including English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Polish, Russian, Mandarin, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, Hindi, and more. The cleanup adapter is currently English-tuned; non-English languages get raw transcription with light cleanup.
Hardware requirements? +
Apple Silicon (M1 or later) on macOS 26 (Tahoe) with Apple Intelligence enabled. Intel Macs are not supported.

Type the way you talk. Dollop handles the rest, on your Mac, for free.
